چکیده

We investigate the sensing performance of a single-qubit quantum thermometer within non-Markovian dynamical framework. By employing an exactly numerical hierarchical equations motion method, we go beyond traditional paradigms Born-Markov theory, pure dephasing mechanism, and weak-coupling approximation, which were commonly used in many previous studies thermometry. find (i) characteristics may boost estimation efficiency, (ii) sensitivity thermometry can be effectively optimized by engineering proportions different coupling operators whole sensor-reservoir interaction Hamiltonian, (iii) threshold, above strong significantly enhance precision long-encoding-time regime. Our results have certain applications for high-resolution

Markovian embedding of non-Markovian superdiffusion.

We consider different Markovian embedding schemes of non-Markovian stochastic processes that are described by generalized Langevin equations and obey thermal detailed balance under equilibrium conditions. At thermal equilibrium, superdiffusive behavior can emerge if the total integral of the memory kernel vanishes. Such a situation of vanishing static friction is caused by a super-Ohmic thermal...

Non-Markovian stochastic resonance.

The phenomenological linear response theory of non-Markovian stochastic resonance (SR) is put forward for stationary two-state renewal processes. In terms of a derivation of a non-Markov regression theorem we evaluate the characteristic SR-quantifiers; i.e., the spectral power amplification (SPA) and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), respectively. In clear contrast to Markovian-SR, a characteris...

Non-Markovian Optimal Prediction

Optimal prediction methods compensate for a lack of resolution in the numerical solution of complex problems through the use of prior statistical information. We know from previous work that in the presence of strong underresolution a good approximation needs a non-Markovian “memory”, determined by an equation for the “orthogonal”, i.e., unresolved, dynamics. We present a simple approximation o...

Non-Markovian Boltzmann equation

A quantum kinetic equation for strongly interacting particles (generalized binary collision approximation, ladder or T-matrix approximation) is derived in the framework of the density operator technique. In contrast to conventional kinetic theory, which is valid on time scales large as compared to the collision (correlation) time only, our approach retains the full time dependencies, especially...

Sensing temperature

Temperature is an omnipresent physical variable reflecting the rotational, vibrational and translational motion of matter, what Richard Feynman called the "jiggling" of atoms. Temperature varies across space and time, and this variation has dramatic effects on the physiology of living cells. It changes the rate and nature of chemical reactions, and it alters the configuration of the atoms that ...
